PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which accurately displays congestion information on the locations of roads of which the display is omitted in the case of a wide-area display larger than a prescribed scale. SOLUTION: When a display region of map information is a wide-area display larger than a prescribed scale, congestion information of which the degree of congestion is congested or relatively congested is extracted to create an overlapping determination region in which a congestion link of each extracted congestion information is extended by a prescribed length in a width direction and a longitudinal direction. Congestion information in which overlapping determination regions overlap is formed into groups. The overlapping determination regions are connected to each other for each group to create equal congestion degree regions. An image of the equal congestion degree regions is drawn in a liquid crystal display 15 in display colors corresponding to the degree of congestion of the equal congestion degree regions (S14-S15). After equal congestion degree regions are similarly created on each congestion information of which the degree of congestion is congested or not congested to draw their image in the liquid crystal display 15 in display colors corresponding to each degree of congestion, an image of each road for every road type corresponding to a display scale is drawn (S16-S20).
