PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curl removing unit capable of switching the direction of a removable curl, and an inexpensive and small paper carrying device having the unit. SOLUTION: This paper carrying device 1 has a paper carrying device body 8 and the curl removing unit 4 installable in the body. The curl removing unit 4 has a pair of rollers 6 and 7 different from each other in hardness for removing the curl of paper, and installation parts 19A, 19B, 19C, 19D and 19E incorporated into the paper carrying device 1 by selecting either of a first mode of arranging the roller 6 having high hardness on one surface of carried paper and a second mode of arranging the roller 6 having high hardness on the other surface of the carried paper. An operation knob 40 for adjusting a pressing state is arranged in a lower joint 44D of a case 31 as a first position in the first mode, and is arranged in an upper joint 44A of the case 31 as a second position in the second mode.
