A conveyor apparatus for conveying sheet material articles (41) comprises a conveyor belt (33) mounted at opposite ends thereof to respective rollers 45, jaws (37) attached to the belt (33) for gripping the leading edge articles (41) to be conveyed, and actuators (49) for selectively opening and closing the jaws (37) at one or more rotary positions of the belt (33) to engage or disengage the articles (41). The jaws (37) positively grip the articles (41) on the conveyor, thereby allowing the articles to pass around the rollers (45) without any risk of the articles moving or slipping. |
