An apparatus and a method for preventing image discontinuation in an LCD device are provided to reduce an image data addressing time by copying source image data to an LCD RAM(Random Access Memory) for every blocks. An apparatus for preventing image discontinuation in an LCD(Light Crystal Display) device includes a source image storing unit(41), an LCD memory(43) and a controller(42). The source image storing unit stores source image data. The controller divides the source image data into plural blocks in a vertical direction, which is formed to cross with a DSLP(Display Scan Line Progress) direction, reads out data from the respective blocks, and writes the read data to the LCD memory.
