PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving object measurement system and a moving object measurement method, capable of more accurately counting a moving object that passes on a movement course. SOLUTION: Main detection units 1A, 1B and auxiliary detection units 3A, 3B installed on sides of a road are provided with infrared distance sensors. The infrared distance sensor detects the distance to a reflection location and thus is unsusceptible to the speed, size, and the like of a vehicle. Accordingly, vehicles passing on the road can be accurately counted, based on the signals acquired from the infrared distance sensors. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
