<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ZnO-based material for blocking ultraviolet rays and infrared rays, having excellent blocking performance of the ultraviolet rays and infrared rays, and improved durability; and to provide a selectively visual light-passing filter, a tube-bulb and an illuminator using the material. <P>SOLUTION: The material 1 for blocking the ultraviolet rays and infrared rays is obtained by forming a protective layer 2 consisting essentially of cerium oxide (CeO) on the surface of a fine particle 1a of a zinc complex oxide represented by the general formula: (ZnO)<SB>k</SB>In<SB>2</SB>O<SB>k+3</SB>(k is an integer). When the material 1 is mixed with a coating film consisting essentially of zinc oxide (ZnO), the rate of blocking the ultraviolet rays of ≤400 nm wave length can be heightened to make it unnecessary that the thickness of the film is thickened unnecessarily to heighten the rate for blocking the ultraviolet rays, and to enable the production cost to be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
