PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of temporary topology loop or frequent topology alteration due to network error when a spanning tree protocol is applied to a network of unstable communication state such as wireless LAN. SOLUTION: A bridge detcts occurrence of network error from a port connected with wireless LAN out of ports connected with two or more networks, respectively, and stops transfer of a frame through the port upon occurrence of network error thus preventing occurrence of a loop. Furthermore, the bridge inhibits frequent occurrence of topology due to a short term error by operating as if the control frame of a spanning tree, i. e. a BPDU, is received artificially for a predetermined period.
