PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the sensitivity suppression appearing at higher frequency waves and cut down the interference of noises with home electronic products etc. in a data communication system and a data receiver. SOLUTION: The data communication system makes power-line communications between a data transmitter for transmitting data carried on a plurality of channels over a power line and a data receiver 3 for receiving the transmitted data from the transmitter over the power line. The data receiver 3 comprises a high-pass filter HPF having a cutoff frequency in the communication frequency band of the power line communication for receiving the data through the high-pass filter HPF.
