PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology improving startability after engine automatic stop in an automatic stop device for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The automatic stop device for the internal combustion engine stopping the internal combustion engine when conditions for automatically stopping the internal combustion engine are satisfied is provided with a fuel property detection means detecting properties of fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine, an engine temperature detection means detecting temperature of the internal combustion engine, an automatic stop prohibition means S109 prohibiting automatic stop of the internal combustion engine when temperature detected by the engine temperature detection means is a threshold value of less, and a threshold establishment means S103 establishing the threshold value based on properties of fuel detected by the fuel property detection means.
