948,978. Burner nozzles. INSTITUT DE RECHERCHES ET LA SIDERURGIE FRANCAISE. Nov. 27, 1961 [Dec. 2, 1960; Oct. 12, 1961], No. 42277/61. Headings F4B and F4T. A hydrocarbon injector comprises an outer heat insulating tube 12, an intermediate atomizing gas supply tube 1 terminating in a cylindroconical head 2 and a slidable inner liquid hydrocarbon fuel supply tube 4 terminating in a head 5. The latter has pins 19 which are pressed against an internal conical surface 18 of the head 2 by means of a spring 17 mounted at the opposite end of the injector. Externally formed helical grooves 14 on the head 5 fit closely into the bone 15 of the cylindro-conical head 2 to form peripheral passages for the gas. A frusto-conical member 16 terminates the head 5. Cooling air is supplied along the outer insulating tube 12 and exhausts through holes 13. Pulverized coal may be added to the atomizing gas and/or the liquid fuel.
