A method for setting network parameters of a wireless LAN(Local Area Network) is provided to determine automatically the network parameters without a user by using an SSID of a beacon message and WEP key information after generating a WEP key by using an information element value of a reserved element ID. A receiving device(30) recognizes a beacon message, which is transmitted from plural transmitting devices(20), and classifies the beacon message, which contains a connectable SSID(Service Set ID). The receiving device extracts an information element value of a reserved element ID from the classified beacon message to generate a WEP(Wired Equivalent Privacy) key. The receiving device configures a wireless network by using the SSID and the WEP key from the beacon message and communicates with the plural transmitting devices. The beacon message containing the SSID includes a manufacturer of the transmitting device and a product name.
