A software upgrade method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to conduct an upgrade process for software while a battery amount is sufficiently obtained, thereby basically preventing a defect generation factor of the terminal caused by power off during the upgrade process. A software upgrade image is wirelessly received and stored(S1-S3). If a battery amount is more than a preset reference value, software upgrade flag information is set(S4,S6). A terminal is rebooted(S7). If the software upgrade flag information is set, received/stored software is upgraded(S8,S9). If the battery remainder is less than the preset reference value, a battery is changed or a charging function is requested(S5).
