A device and a method for transmitting AD moving pictures in a video content providing system by using a push mode and a pull mode are provided to display the minimum AD moving picture downloaded in the push mode before contents are played, and display the remaining AD moving picture in the middle of the contents or after the contents are finished by downloading the remaining AD moving picture in the pull mode while the contents are played. An STB(Set-Top Box)(110) requests the desired contents to a content server(124) by connecting to a video CP(Content Provider) system(120), requests an AD server(126) to transmit AD data in the pull mode according to the AD policy table received from the video CP system, and plays the received contents and AD data. A service management head-end(122) stores member information, video content information, and AD data information, and generates the AD policy table by matching a user and the contents with the suitable AD based on the stored information. If the STB requests the contents after the AD policy table is distributed to the STB, the service management head-end requests the AD server to transmit the AD data corresponding to the contents in the push mode. |
