The method involves using sensor (7, 9) to detect a phenomenon related to the load which is exerted on the roof (3) and storing at least two predetermined values for the phenomenon. The sensor emits a detection signal when the detected phenomenon corresponds to at least one of the predetermined phenomenon values and emits a warning signal when the detected phenomenon is different from the predetermined phenomenon values.
