摘要 A Raman amplification-based bidirectional WDM-PON(Wavelength Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network) using an ASE(Amplified Spontaneous Emission) light source for a pumped subscriber by reusing residual Raman pumping light is provided to compensate signal loss on a signal transmission fiber by using Raman amplification, thus long-distance transmission is available. A CO(Central Office)(10) consists of a Raman pumping light source(17) for outputting predetermined wavelength of pumping light, and a pump/signal WDM unit(18) for transmitting downlink signals together with the Raman pumping light. A signal transmission fiber(20) amplifies signals sent from the CO(10) into bidirectional signals by using Raman amplification, and sends the amplified signals. An RN(Remote Node)(30) consists of a pump/signal wavelength division demultiplexer(31) for separating the downlink signals from residual Raman pumping light to output the separated signals and light, a cyclic AWG(Arrayed Waveguide Grating)(32) for demultiplexing the downlink signals to output the demultiplexed signals, an Erbium-doped fiber(34) for generating an ASE light source amplified by reusing the surplus Raman pumping light, and an AWG(35) for dividing the amplified ASE light source into plural wavelengths to output the divided light source. An ONU(Optical Network Unit)(40) receives the downlink signals and the amplified ASE light source.
