PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device in which a flicker and interference fringes of display of a liquid crystal panel can be suppressed without altering the constitution of an externally provided control means, and also to provide electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has the liquid crystal panel 2 which displays an image, an illuminator 3 which irradiates the liquid crystal panel 2 with an illuminating light, and a driving part 4 which drives the liquid crystal panel 2 and the illuminator 3 based upon an image signal supplied from the externally provided control means C. The illuminator 3 adjusts the luminance of the illuminating light by variably setting the pulse width of a light source signal supplied from the control means C and driving the illuminator 3, and the driving part 4 has a liquid crystal driving part 61 which converts the image signal into a synchronizing image signal of frequency synchronizing with the light source signal to drive the liquid crystal panel 2.
