PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new light-emitting material, a light-emitting element able to be driven in a low voltage, a light-emitting device and electronic appliances reduced in electric power consumption and the light-emitting device and the electronic appliances produced at low cost. SOLUTION: The light-emitting material comprises a parent material, a primary impurity, a secondary impurity and a tertiary impurity. In the light-emitting material, the primary impurity forms a shallow donor level to the parent material, the secondary impurity forms a shallow acceptor level to the parent material, the tertiary impurity forms a shallow trap level to the parent material and the parent material has a compound containing an element of the second group of the periodic table and an element of the sixteenth group of the periodic table.
