<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader for easily finding out final read optical information in resuming the interrupted read operation of optical information. <P>SOLUTION: The bar codes of commodity 1, commodity 2, commodity 3, and commodity 4 are successively read, and the reading of the bar code of commodity 5 is interrupted by operating a lock button 33 in order to store the final bar code for locking it. Then, the bar code read in the case of performing the lock operation is read for releasing lock. Thus, in resuming the interrupted read operation of the bar code, it is possible to search the locked bar code while successively reading the bar codes without outputting any decode result to the main body device until the locked bar code is found out.
