PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film drying device capable of obtaining dried sludge stable in moisture content even when the sludge has a little blockage between a heat transfer barrel inner portion and a bleed fan caused by change of sludge quality with the seasons. SOLUTION: This thin film drying device for expanding the sludge charged into a cylindrical heat transfer barrel 1 on an inner face of the heat transfer barrel 1 by a blade 4, and drying the same into a thin film state by the heat applied from an external jacket 5, is provided with the bleed fan 13 for keeping the inside of the heat transfer barrel 1 in a prescribed pressure state, and a pressure gauge 18 for measuring the pressure in the heat transfer barrel 1, and when a measured value of the pressure gauge 18 rises from the prescribed pressure state to a plus side, a rotating speed of the bleed fan 13 is increased corresponding to the rise by a speed control means 17.
