PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key switch in which, when a keytop is depressed, the keytop moves smoothly right downward and looseness of the keytop can be eliminated, and the holding force of the keytop is made large. SOLUTION: The key switch device is provided with a lifting mechanism having a small link member 14 and a large link member 15 which rotate in vertical direction crossing at right angles without mutually contacting each other between a substrate and the keytop, and holds the keytop in free lifting and descending by the lifting mechanism, and performs switching operation by depressing the keytop. A pair of small link members 14, of which upper end part 14d, 14d are fitted vertically rotatably to axial support parts 13a, 13b provided at the keytop, and the lower end parts 14a, 14b are fitted to sliding guides 12a, 12b to guide sliding in horizontal direction along the upper face of the substrate are installed in bilateral symmetry.
