PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support method and a driving support device which achieve both supporting safe driving and practicality. SOLUTION: A navigation unit 2 of a navigation system 1 for a vehicle is provided with a CPU 10 which sets a warning level L on the basis of at least one of a geographical condition around the vehicle, a peripheral vehicle condition, and a driving condition of the vehicle. When driver's inattentive driving is detected on the basis of an image processor 20 which detects that the driver is looking aside, the driver is warned against inattentive driving on the basis of the set warning level L.
