PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for controlling a flash memory for updating flash memory control information stored in a predetermined volatile memory every time when the type of the flash memory is changed and using the updated control information to control the changed flash memory. SOLUTION: This device controlling the flash memory includes the flash memory storing its own control information, a first memory storing a programming code for controlling the flash memory, a control part substituting the control information for the programming code to generate a control code for controlling the flash memory, and a transmission/receipt part transmitting the control code.
