<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the storage efficiency of structured document data and to increase the speed of retrieval processing by query data. <P>SOLUTION: This structured document management device comprises a document data receiving means 24 receiving the input of structured document data; a structure guide data storage means 21a storing structure guide data which is a summary of hierarchical structure information of the structured document data; a structure stream converting means 25 converting structure information into structure stream data using the structure guide data; and a structure stream data storage means 21b storing the structure stream data.
