PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water dispersion which remarkably inhibits secondary production of fine flocs, has good film thickness uniformity, adhesion, water resistance and the like, has good sprayability on spray coating and the like, and extremely reduces a mixed amount of impurities of fine flocs in the resin water dispersion. SOLUTION: The process for producing a water dispersion for subjecting a radical polymerizable unsaturated monomer to emulsion polymerization comprises using an anionic sulfonate emulsifier (X) which has been heat-treated before use, preferably at 40-100°C for not less than one hour.
