PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and instrument for surgically releasing gastric tissues restricted by a fastener. SOLUTION: In this method, a fastener restricting some gastric tissues is first to be released from the tissues and then to be taken out of the gastric region. The fastener is cut off by using a fastener removing instrument (100) carried with an endoscope, and by adding energy through it. The fastener removing instrument, as illustrated in the figure, has a long and thin body (16) that is equipped with a fastener catch (22) to be selectively engaged with the fastener attached to the tissues. This instrument also has a fastener cutting member (20) and a fastener removing element (26) which is an energy delivery member for jetting out argon plasma to cut off the fastener.
