A green phosphor for a plasma display panel(PDP), a method for preparing the green phosphor, and a plasma display panel containing the phosphor are provided to reduce the ununiformity of discharge and to lower discharge voltage. A green phosphor is a compound represented by Zn2SiO4:Mn whose surface is coated with a polymer film-coated MgO continuously or discontinuously. Preferably the polymer film-coated MgO has a particle size of 2 nm to 10 micrometers. A method for preparing the green phosphor comprises the steps of preparing a Zn2SiO4:Mn phosphor; coating a film of MgO particle with a polymer; and mixing the Zn2SiO4:Mn phosphor and the polymer-coated MgO particle.
