PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a satisfactory charge-discharge cycle characteristic with high capacity. SOLUTION: In the secondary battery nonaqueous electrolyte for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a lithium salt, the electrolyte contains a hydrazine derivative represented by the formula R<SB>11</SB>R<SB>12</SB>N-NR<SB>13</SB>R<SB>14</SB>in an amount of 1 g or more and 100 g or less per kg of the electrolyte, wherein R<SB>11</SB>, R<SB>12</SB>and R<SB>13</SB>each represent a group selected from the group consisting of substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, acyl group, oxycarbonyl group and sulfonyl group having a total carbon number of 1 to 12, and substituted or non-substituted aryl group having a total carbon number of 6 to 20, R<SB>14</SB>represents acyl group, oxycarbonyl group or sulfonyl group, and at least either of R<SB>11</SB>and R<SB>12</SB>is a group selected from the group consisting of acyl group, oxycarbonyl group and sulfonyl group.
