PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent a piston ring from being caught with respect to edge corners 6 and 7 in an opening of various ports 3 into a cylinder without changing timing of opening and closing time of the various ports in the one wherein the piston ring 4 arranged in a piston 2 reciprocating in the cylinder 1 in a two-cycle internal combustion engine has an outer peripheral surface constituted as a convex shaped arc surface 8 in a height direction in the piston ring. SOLUTION: The edge corner 7 positioned farther from a cylinder top part of the edge corners 6 and 7 in the opening of the various ports into the cylinder is a chamfered corner or a round corner, and a top part 8a showing a maximum piston ring outside diameter of the convex shaped arc surface 8 of the piston ring outer peripheral surface is positioned in a section deviated to a direction separated from a top surface 2a of the piston 2 compared to a center 4a of the height direction of the piston ring.
