PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suck airborne dust particles from a wide range and suppressing the effect of discharged air blow such as clean up of the dust particles deposited on the floor face or diffusion of the dust particles by the discharged air blow. SOLUTION: The air cleaning apparatus comprises a filter and an air blowing fan and sucks air through the top face part of the apparatus and discharges air from approximately the entire periphery of the side face of the apparatus. The air cleaning apparatus is provided with air blowing means for leading polluted air to the filter in the lower part of the apparatus body, a suction port formed in the top face of the apparatus body, and a discharge port formed in approximately the entire periphery of the side wall of the apparatus body. The filter end face on the opposite to the suction port is joined to the air blowing means and an air suction pipe for leading air from the suction port to the filter is installed between the side wall of the apparatus body and the filter.
