<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein a backlight and a liquid crystal panel are integrally formed. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device provided with a first substrate having a switching element formed on one principal surface side thereof, a second substrate whose one principal surface is opposed to either one principal surface of the first substrate and has an electrode formed thereon, a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first and the second substrates and a light source radiating light on an end surface side of the second substrate, at least one portion of light radiated from the light source is transmitted in the second substrate, radiated from the second substrate, radiated via the liquid crystal layer and the first substrate and thus an image can be displayed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
