<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long life in a throttle structure 6 for an exhaust system 4 of an internal combustion engine 1 having a throttle valve 8 for restricting the flow of exhaust gases flowing through a pipe 7 and a reset spring 9 for applying a force pressing the throttle valve 8 at the close position. <P>SOLUTION: This throttle valve 8 can be pivotally rotated around a pivot shaft 10 between the close position and the open position in the pipe 7. The reset spring 9 is supported on a lever 11 fixed and connected to the throttle valve 8 at its valve end, and also supported on a bearing 13 for storing a shaft 12 extending coaxially with the pivot shaft 10 at its pipe end. To prolong the life of the throttle structure 6, the reset spring 9 supports the force of the spring at the pipe end substantially symmetrically to a symmetric plane 32 extending vertically to the pivot shaft 10 in the range of a support position 19 at the valve end. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
