PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve timing apparatus which can suppress the degradation of the accuracy of a phase. SOLUTION: An ECU executes a program including a step (S100) for detecting the rotational speed NE of an engine, and a step (S104) for stopping current supply to an electric motor of an intake VVT mechanism when the rotational speed NE of the engine is not higher than a threshold NE(0) (YES in S102).
