APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR UPGRADING FIRMWARE USING DIGITAL MULTIMEDIA BROADCASTING

An apparatus and a method for upgrading firmware by using DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) are provided so that it is unnecessary for a user to make an additional effort for upgrading the firmware as the user receives the firmware through a network and stores a downloaded program in a terminal through a cable by upgrading the firmware without a temporal and spatial limit by using a data service of the DMB. A broadcasting signal processing unit(410) processes a DMB signal and receives a firmware file. A volatile storing unit(432) temporarily stores the received firmware file. A non-volatile storing unit(431) stores an existing firmware file currently used. A control unit(420) determines whether the received firmware file is an upgrade file of the existing firmware file, and upgrades the existing firmware file as the received firmware file.
