FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology, medicine, pharmacy. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel synthetic 2-(alpha-hydroxypentyl)benzoates of the general formula (I): wherein M means a monovalent metal ion, bivalent metal ion or a basic organic group chosen from a aniline group, benzylamino-group, morpholinyl group or diethylamino-group and wherein n = 1 or 2. Also, invention relates to methods for synthesis of these compounds and pharmaceutical compositions containing these salts as active components.
