A stream transmitting part is provided which, when a user is to select one of video contents stored in a storage device, extracts a predetermined period of digest from each of the video contents stored by the content storing part to produce and transmit a single digest stream. This allows the user to view the digest stream collecting the digests of the respective contents and select a desired program from the digest stream.
