<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce light leakage in a black display of a VA mode liquid crystal display device and further to prevent lowering of an opening ratio. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal display panel comprising a liquid crystal material interposed between a first substrate having pixel electrodes and a second substrate having a counter electrode, wherein the second substrate has: alignment control protrusions which are formed by depositing a conductor film, subsequently film forming an insulating film on the conductor film, and patterning the insulating film; and a light shielding layer formed by using the alignment control protrusions as a mask so as to pattern the conductor film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
