<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an increase in burden on control by facilitating the address management of image data along with a higher performance effect in the variable display. <P>SOLUTION: The updating of data for display is carried out to gradually display or erase the performance images for decoration figures with the passage of time. Image element data with the frequency of display set higher are read out of a CGROM in response to the reception of a pre-transfer command to be transferred to a fixed address area. Then, in response to the reception of a fixed address designation display command, the image element data read out of a reading address of the fixed address area are written into a frame buffer memory to be stored. Other image element data are read out of the CGROM in response to the reception of an automatic transfer display command to be transferred to an automatic transfer area.
