PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a worker to easily recognize a type of pattern groups and pattern numbers when alternatively selecting a sewing pattern out of a plurality of sewing patterns by classifying a plurality of sewing patterns into a plurality of pattern groups by type. SOLUTION: When operating a practical-use pattern group key 10 of an operation panel 8, this sewing pattern display device sets a practical-use pattern group mode, reads zoom display data of a practical-use pattern group command symbol 10A for imaging the practical-use pattern group and develops them on a display buffer. The practical-use pattern group command symbol 10A is displayed at the center of the liquid crystal display 9 across first and second display lines 9a and 9b in a zoom size based on the display data of the display buffer. After a lapse of 0.5 second, the practical-use pattern group command symbol 10A is displayed to be reduced on the left end of the second display line 9b of the liquid crystal display in a regular size.
