OPTICAL SYSTEM HAVING OPTICAL FILTER, AND IMAGE PROJECTION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a projected image showing high contrast and favorable color reproducibility and white balance.

SOLUTION: The optical system comprises color separation systems 7, 14, 15 to separate the light from a light source 1 into light of three colors and an optical filter 24 disposed in the light source side than the color separation system. The optical filter has a transmittance of higher than 80% for at least one color light in the three colors and transmittances of 40% to 80% for light in other colors.
