The invention relates to a closable container (1), having wall material which is impermeable to liquid and gas and having at least one permeable region (2) provided therein which is permeable to liquids, gases and vapours, and having an introduction opening (4) which is closed when waste has been introduced. According to the invention, this container is provided with a blocking device (3) which renders the permeable region (2) ineffective until a physical parameter of the immediate vicinity of the container has changed by a predetermined amount. The container according to the invention is easy and safe to handle without the risk of contamination and can be passed on in the closed state to a disinfection or sterilisation process.
