PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motion device capable of integrating an output shaft and a ball screw shaft in manufacturing of a ball screw without requiring troublesome heat treating work and straightening work after the heat treating work while preventing deterioration in lead accuracy due to such a heat treatment, not requiring complicated joining work, and preventing the occurrence of a deviation at the axial center. SOLUTION: The linear motion device is equipped with a motor, a ball screw shaft 3 rotatably driven by the motor, and a ball nut 5 movably screwed to the ball screw shaft 3. The ball screw shaft 3 is made of an austenite stainless steel which transforms due to strain-induced transformation by being applied with plastic working, and the surface becomes a martensite structure of high hardness and the inside becomes a non-magnetic austenite structure by thread rolling.
