A pressure maximum (M) in gas pressure of combustion gases is pushed in one of the cylinders to match a prior level so as to reduce torque applied to a crankshaft. Torque applied to pistons is reduced by the pistons in the direction of rotation of the crankshaft. Pressure (p) in an internal combustion engine's cylinder is traced if crankshaft speed should be reduced quickly via braking torque.
