<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmissive liquid crystal display device nearly free from fluctuation in display characteristics, having luminous display and high contrast and nearly free from viewing angle dependency. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is constituted of at least a polarizing plate, a first optically anisotropic layer having 50 to 140 nm retardation value in 550 nm wavelength, a second optically anisotropic layer having negative optical anisotropy, a homogeneous alignment liquid crystal cell in which a liquid crystal layer is held between upper and lower substrates disposed opposite to each other, a third optically anisotropic layer having 130 to 210 nm retardation value in 550 nm wavelength and a polarizing plate in this order from a backlight side, the liquid crystal display device is characterized in that the first optically anisotropic layer is constituted of at least a liquid crystal film whose nematic hybrid alignment structure is fixed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
