<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein an image having color balance the same as the color balance obtained when viewed from a direction parallel or orthogonal to a transmission axis of a dichroic polarizer can be displayed even when viewed from a direction oblique to the transmission axis of the dichroic polarizer which constitutes a liquid crystal panel. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is obtained by disposing a light source, a selected light reflective optical element wherein a lower limit λ<SB>L</SB>of a wavelength band reflecting a light ray made incident at 0° angle is longer than the wavelength λ<SB>R1</SB>of light showing the maximum light emission intensity in 600 to 700 nm wavelength band of light emitted by the light source and light made incident at 60° angle and having 600 to 700 nm wavelength has 20 to 80% average transmittance, a luminance enhancing element reflecting one polarized light ray of a visible light region wavelength and transmitting the other polarized light ray on the side near to a liquid crystal panel and the liquid crystal panel in this order. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
