The control device (30) has fuel injected by a valve (16) to each cylinder. The control device has a collection mechanism for recording a malfunction, which is caused by a valve and on the basis of the current flowing to the valve and to the supply of a discharge current and a given threshold value. A trigger supplies several control pulses to the fuel injecting valve. The control pulse is formed from the discharge current and has a time interval, which prevents fuel injection. An estimate mechanism estimates the malfunction of the fuel injecting and under the supply of the control pulse. An independent claim is included for a fuel injection system, an engine system, and a method for controlling fuel injection in a fuel injecting device.
