<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone device through which a user and a communication partner can understand each other through character information even in a state in which sounds cannot be used. <P>SOLUTION: An image display 35a which displays the moving images etc., of a video telephone and a character display 35b which displays character information etc., of a video chat communication are provided to the display of the telephone device. When an indication that a conversation mode is switched from a videotelephone mode to a video chat communication mode is issued from an originator to a communication partner, a control unit 72 receives the above request, switches the conversation mode without interrupting communications with the communication partner, and enables both the originator and communication partner to display and input the character information, to carry out transmission/reception, etc. in the video chat communication mode, and to carry on a conversation with each other through character information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
