PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser in which speckle noise can be reduced. SOLUTION: A plurality of light emitters forming stripe light emitting regions 12-1 to 12-6 are provided. The light emitting regions 12-1 to 12-3 belong to a group 16A having an average value W<SB>A</SB>of a stripe width, the light emitting regions 12-4 and 12-5 belong to a group 16B having an average value W<SB>B</SB>of a stripe width, and the light emitting region 12-6 belongs to a group 16C having an average value W<SB>C</SB>of a stripe width. In each group 16A to 16C, the number of light emitting regions belonging to a group of a small average value is larger than the number of light emitting regions belonging to a group of a large average value. Each group 16A to 16C has such an average value W<SB>A</SB>-W<SB>C</SB>that the bandwidth of a spectrum of laser light outputted from a group of one average value partially overlaps the bandwidth of the spectrum of laser light outputted from a group of an average value closest to the one average value.
