PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon black pigment exhibiting excellent dispersibility in an organic solvent such as an isoparaffin hydrocarbon solvent and to provide a dispersion material of the pigment and a method for manufacturing the pigment. SOLUTION: The pigment comprises surface modified carbon black in which one end isocyanate group of a diisocyanate compound having isocyanate groups at both ends is bonded by a urethane coupling to a surface functional group of carbon black and the other end isocyanate group is coupled with a reactive group of reactive paraffin. The dispersion material is prepared by dispersing the above carbon black pigment in an isoparaffin hydrocarbon solvent. The method for manufacturing the carbon black pigment comprises allowing carbon black to react with a diisocyanate compound having isocyanate groups at both ends in a non-reactive organic solvent to bond the one end isocyanate group with a surface functional group of the carbon black through urethane coupling, and then mixing the pigment with reactive paraffin to bond the other end isocyanate with a reactive group of the paraffin.
