PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of disassembling an optical cable and an optical cable core by which a coarsely wound strings for preventing the dropout of optical fibers from slot grooves are easily removed together with a wrapping tape. SOLUTION: The optical fibers 4 are stored in the grooves 2a of a grooved slot 2, and the outer periphery of the slot 2 is sequentially wrapped by the coarsely wound strings 5, the wrapping tape 6 and a cable jacket 7 to form an optical cable, wherein a longitudinal additional string 8 is provided between the slot 2 and the coarsely wound strings 5. The longitudinal additional string 8 is composed of a fibrous bundle of which the rupture strength is larger than that of the coarsely wound strings 5. It is preferable that two longitudinal additional strings 8 are arranged opposed to each other interposing the slot. When the optical cable core is disassembled, the coarsely wound strings 5 and the wrapping tape 6 are cut with a cutter, the longitudinal additional string 8 is drawn out and the cut coarsely wound strings 5 and the wrapping tape 6 are pealed off.
