the dowel (1) is divided crosswise into two halves (2,3) each containing a component of mortar and fitting together at the ends. The end of one half is closed by a membrane (6) and the end of the other half which is to fit together with same has an opener (7) so that it opens the membrane during axial compression so that the insides of the dowel halves communicate with one another. At least one of the halves has at least one outlet opening (10) in the peripheral wall for the mortar. The opener can be a cutting ring which produces a cracking sound when the two halves are correctly connected together.
